Ausgangspunkt der Zeichnungen ist eine ägyptische, spätantike Tunika des Museums für Byzantinische Kunst, dem Bode Museum in Berlin, ein Manteltuch im Besitz des Koptischen Museums Kairo und 63 ägyptische spätantike Stofffragmente aus dem Textilbestand des Kulturhistorischen Museums Magdeburg. Die historischen Textilien wurden im Verlauf ihrer ca. 1700–1400 Jahre vielfach verändert, in Funktion, Form, Materialität und zugewiesener Bedeutung.
The drawings refer an Egyptian late antique tunic in the collection of the Museum of Byzantine Art at the Bode Museum in Berlin, a shawl at the Coptic Museum Cairo and 63 fragments of fabric from Egypt (late antiquity) belonging to the textile department of the Museum of Cultural History in Magdeburg. Over the course of their ca.1700–1400 years, historical textiles have undergone many changes in terms of function, form, materiality and assigned meaning.
